Jerzy Andrzej Sładek - engineer, metrologist, professor of technical sciences, full professor of the Krakow University of Technology, specialist in coordinate metrology, metrology in manufacturing processes, process automation - Metrology 4.0. Author and co-author of more than 400 scientific works, dozens of manuscripts in A-list journals, and 3 books (including Coordinate Metrology - Springer Verlag -2016). He has promoted 14 doctoral students in technical sciences. Member of the Machine Building Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences. In the years: 1993-1996 head of the Independent Laboratory of Automated Quality Assurance Systems, 1996-1997 head of the Department of Metrology and Technical Control, 1997-1998 deputy director of the Institute of Machine Technology and Production Automation, 2004-2013 head of the Coordinate Metrology Laboratory (since 2010 operating as a PCA accredited calibration laboratory). He initiated the establishment of the Industrial Design Engineering major at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering in collaboration with the Faculty of Industrial Forms at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. Since 2016 he has been the dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Cracow University of Technology. He was the initiator of the National Coordinate Metrology Network – NSMET, established in 2021, uniting Polish universities of technology in the research network on a global scale.
At the turn of the 80s and 90s he founded and managed two innovative metrology engineering companies: Bipropol Sp. z o.o. and Metronom GmbH. Both achieved significant market success and were acquired by large foreign business entities. Since 1996 he has chaired the Supervisory Board of the International Foundation for the Promotion of Advanced Technologies. He was one of the authors of the Cracow Special Economic Zone and in the years 1997-2003 he was a member of its Management Board, Vice-President of the Centre of Advanced Technologies - a Company of the State Treasury (currently the Cracow Technology Park) introducing such key investors as Motorola, Comarch, Linde, MAN. Since 2015 member of the Programme Council of the Open Eyes Economy Summit.
